Attack speed

From RYL Wiki

How fast a character makes normal attacks. It depends only on the weapon, the class and the combo: stats, level and equipment bonuses do not change it. Skills have their own times.

Combos

Holding the attack on a target, the character chains its swings into a combo: each swing is a different move, and after the last one the combo starts over.

  • A combo has 4 swings with any weapon but a staff, which has 2. Bows and crossbows shoot one arrow or bolt at a time, each shot a full move; so do bare hands.
  • A weapon mastery (Swordsmanship, Axe-Skill, Blunt-Skill, Dagger-Skill; for the Akhan Weapon Intensified, Sword Intensified, Forked-Skill) makes the combo longer while the character holds a weapon of the mastery: 5 swings from grade II, 6 from grade III. Grade I does not change it.
  • Each swing goes straight into the next. The last swing of the combo is played to the end before the combo starts over.
  • Letting go of the attack ends the combo: the next attack starts again at its first swing.
  • The later swings of a combo are slower moves, so a longer combo gives more swings but about the same number of attacks per second; daggers gain the most.

Speed by class

The moves of an attack play at a speed set by the weapon and the class:

Weapon 120% 110% 100%
One-handed swords, axes and blunt weapons Fighter, Rogue, Defender, Warrior, Assassin, Archer, Cleric — Acolyte, Priest, Mage, Sorcerer, Enchanter
Two-handed swords, axes and blunt weapons Fighter, Defender, Warrior — the other classes
Bows and crossbows — Archer Enchanter
Daggers, staves and every weapon of the Akhan every class — —

A character frozen by Ice-Blaze attacks at half these speeds (and moves at half speed). Being slowed does not change the speed of attacks, only of movement; attacking a target that moves away still takes longer, since the character has to reach it.

Attacks per second

Holding the attack on one target, by the length of the combo. Male and female characters have different moves; where they differ, both values are shown.

Bows and crossbows

Bows and crossbows have the same speed: one shot every 0.86 s for an Archer and every 0.94 s for an Enchanter.
